It's a Tsin - Tsintsadze Leads Day 2 Field

Ladies and gentlemen of the internet, that is your lot for the Day Ones in this mammoth MPNPT Vienna! Leading the pack into Day 2 is Giorgi Tsintsadze, whose 275,400 stack puts him head and shoulders above his nearest Day 1b rival, Ben Middleton, who’s on 238,100. Day 1a chip leader Artur Yarovoy is in possession of 256,000.

Today’s Day 1b drew an impressive 346 entries at the Montesino, Vienna’s funnest casino; added to Day 1a’s 186 entries, we are looking at a minimum of 532 entries in this €500 + €50 Main Event – and don’t forget, registration remains open until the start of play tomorrow if you still fancy taking a shot at MPNPT glory. We’ll have final player numbers and the all-important prizepool info shortly after 2pm local time tomorrow, when Day 2 play starts.

Players who took to the felt today and succeeded in battling through to Day 2 include UK poker legend Surinder Sunar (77,100), voluble Slovakian Marek Tatar (135,000) and party animal Alan Hayter (199,600, see photos from last night’s crazy player party here),

102 players remained at the end of today; added to the 49 Day 1a survivors, that makes 151 Day 2 starters, plus however many folks choose to take the plunge and buy in before play starts tomorrow.

Meanwhile other events continue apace around the Montesino – tomorrow’s side events include the €130 + €20 MPNPT Austria Poker Cup at 4pm and the €1,000 + €100 High Roller event at 7pm, as well as a supersat for an MPNPT Malta package at 8pm.

We’ll see you back here at 2pm local time for what we expect to be a fast-paced day of thrilling raises, reraises, sheepish folds, Slovakian men singing, and all the other accoutrements of a classic MPNPT edition. But before then, we have a very important appointment with a couple of Wieselburgers. See you at the bar!
