Nothing Really Mattila

I’ve just witnessed the almost-unthinkable – a player folding pocket kings preflop when already in the money.

A raising war between Jussi Mattila and Johannes Park saw the former put 139k in the middle – over a third of his stack – before folding to the push from the latter. Mattila flashed Park a king. Park responded with an ace. Then Mattila slid the first king over a bit to reveal the second one. Park did likewise, also now showing a king for big slick.

“I don’t play for money,” Mattila told him, “I play for…” He sort of trailed off then – perhaps thinking about the money now.

Park is up to 570k and is one of our chip leaders at the moment. Mattila is down to 250k.
