Dimitrios Nanos enjoyed a brief moment of security after his A-7 came good on an 8-7-6-5-5 board against Zoltan Eisenreich’s A-J, doubling him up to around 100k. Eisenreich was left with around 120k but was still grimly shaking his head as the pot headed towards Nanos.

We will never know whether Eisenreich felt better or worse a few minutes later when Nanos bluffed off most of his stack to Stefan Vagner. The board read Q-2-3-9-A when Nanos bet out around 35k, leaving himself just 25k behind. After a long spell in the tank, Vagner made the call and turned over pocket sixes – easily enough to beat Nanos’ K-J for absolute air. Vagner is now at a very healthy 280k, while Nanos is back to his starting stack – pretty precarious with the blinds at 1,500/3,000/400.
