The first of the two opening days of MPNPT Bratislava has played to a finish and after an exciting day of poker, it is young Bosnia-Herzegovinan player Daniel Kucurski who has bagged up the chip lead with a sizeable count of 233,000.
The action began twelve levels ago – a throng of players sweeping into the Crowne Plaza’s interior to take their shot at the title. There were 88 entries in total (including rebuys) and following the end of the twelfth level, most of these had been shorn from the roster – just 26 left standing with a shot at the remuneration and perhaps more.
Amongst those who perished during the day were such players as Monika Zukowicz, the young Polish player who’s a popular feature on both the tour and her poker-centric twitch stream. 2017 MPNPT Tallinn winner Keimo Suominen was another big name casualty – his stack vacillating somewhat wildly throughout the day – finally the dial settling on “zero chips.” Both will have a chance to redeem themselves should they avail themselves of the opportunity to rebuy tomorrow.
Things went better, however, for Belgian Daniel Camus(192,300) and Finn Leo Tapani Pietila (179,600) who ran out 2nd and 3rd in the close of day chip counts which should give them some sort of viable platform to mount a challenge when the survivors of this flight resume on Day 2. They’ll all have to contend with Danijel Kucurski’s big stack though and given Day 1B tends to produce a larger field, it’s quite possible we’ll see an even bulkier chip leader emerge once we have played through twelve levels tomorrow.
(Full chip counts from the day can be viewed below.)
The action will begin once more at 12:00PM local time – with 12 levels scheduled to be played.
We hope you’ll join us as we bring you all the action from the felt and don’t forget there is the €100+€10 MPNPT Win The Button competition for anyone who fancies a more fast paced slice of poker action.
For now though thanks for following. See you tomorrow for all the fun and frolics from beautiful Bratislava!
