With the final table tantalisingly close, there are some nervous faces, both on the tables and amongst the players’ supporters on the rail. No one wants to bust now with tournament glory beckoning, so we know Timothy Hickling must be a tad disappointed to have fallen just short – especially in this manner.
It was Last Longer King and increasingly-huge stacked Sebastian Gruszczynski who dealt the killer blow, the pair finding two fine hands to get their chips in preflop – Ad Kc for Hickling Th Ts for Gruszczynski.
It all looked peachy at first from Hickling’s point of view – the board of Ah 6h 3c a very healthy result for his big slick. “Any hearts about?” mused Hickling aloud and his trepidation at a backdoor flush arriving proved prescient.
The 9h and Jh were dealt on turn and river – Gruszczynski snatching the winning hand at the death which meant Hickling had played his last hand at the MPNPT Manchester Main Event.
Excellent job, we hope you’ll join us again soon! £2,300 isn’t the worst result, that will buy more than a few consolation drinks. Gruszczynski is around 1.5 million chips now – a real contender.
We’re now 10 handed – two tables of 5 playing hand for hand. One more elimination and we’ll have out final table.
