Gulas Cooked in 3rd Place (€102,050)

On the button, Serghei Lisii looked down at 8h 8c, and just limped in. Sneaky. Steven van Zadelhoff limped in on the small blind as well, albeit with a more classic limping hand: 9c 7d. On the button, and holding Ah 9d, Josef Gulas moved all in for 12 million. It was the last thing he would do in this year’s Main Event. Lisii called, van Zadelhoff got out of the way, and they went to showdown.

Flop: 7s Th 5h – no help for Gulas there.

Turn: Ad! Suddenly Gulas was looking good for the double up – only an eight could send him home now…

River: BOOM! 8s

With that, we wave goodbye to Gulas. Lisii and van Zadelhoff are now taking a short break before the heads up commences. Van Zadelhoff will have the chip advantage when they return.
