During the tournament introductions, Laura Cornelius announced to the players that they could win other prizes if they were the first to nail down certain hands.
The top prize was announced to be a GoPro camera for being the first player to nail down a royal flush in the Battle of Malta Main Event using at least one of their hole cards.
Players were speculating that this might not even happen on Day 1a. After all, how often do royal flushes happen?
However, Italy’s Massimo Degiorgi proved everyone wrong and hit a royal flush before the first break took place. Degiorgi was thrilled about winning the prize while also adding some chips to his stack.
