Welcome to the Casino Malta for Day 1B of the MPN Poker Tour Malta. Day 1A saw just shy of 100 entrants satellite into, and provide cold hard cash for, the €500+50 buy-in tournament and a fun day of poker played out, culminating in Alan Carr’s late dash to secure the chip lead with 185,600 chips.
There are a number of factors that suggest Day 1B’s numbers should comfortably eclipse Day 1A’s entrants. The second of the two starting days is traditionally the more popular – most players showing a preference to play their starting day and Day 2 consecutively.
Already we have 70 satellite entries with their seats booked today and the casino is rapidly filling up with other registrants. We’ll bring you a better idea of the numbers at the start of play although the re-entry format means we will amend and augment this as the day progresses.
The tournament’s popularity is no surprise; the 25k chip stacks and 45 minute levels give the players plenty of leeway to showcase their mad poker skills and the €150,000 guarantee (which could well be surpassed) gives them a juicy prizepool as motivation.
Let’s not forget we are in Malta as well, home of golden beaches, a city that never sleeps full of smiling, happy locals looking and some delicious eating establishments.
The stage is set for another riveting day of poker. Good luck one and all, shuffle up and deal!
